It is strongly recommended that all individuals interested in pursuing a career as a collegiate or professional-level strength and conditioning coach obtain an undergraduate or graduate degree in an exercise science/kinesiology-related field. This will provide the individual with a strong scientific base from which to develop and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning programs. This scientific base will be extremely helpful for individuals preparing to take the written portion of the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification examination.
