The Use of Heart Rate Training & Technology to Manage Training Volume and Recovery

Presentation Summary:
This will be an overview of HR Training, HR Variability, and existing technology used by various Olympic, collegiate, and professional teams to reduce the risk of overtraining thus optimizing performance

Biography:

Dave is currently a National Accounts Manager at Polar USA where he consults with numerous Olympic, collegiate, and professional teams regarding the use of heart rate technology. Dave is a Rutgers University alumnus. He also worked for his alma mater for 12 years as a Fitness Coordinator, Personal Training Director, and Exercise Science. Earlier in his career, Dave worked as a Health and Fitness Specialist at Sony/BMG Music's Corporate Fitness Center in Manhattan. His private training clientele includes collegiate and high school athletes, adults and children, and those with special needs or medical concerns.

Dave has written articles for Men's Fitness, The Fitness Expert Network, Men's Health, The Performance Menu, and FitOrbit.com Furthermore, he has coauthored two studies:


Impact of hardiness on performance changes in Division I soccer players throughout the season
Effects of a carbohydrate/protein/antioxidant supplement on training parameters in Division I soccer players

The results of the above studies were presented at the American College of Sports Medicine's 52nd and 53rd Annual Meeting in 2004 and 2005 respectively. He has also been a presenter at the NSCA NJ State Clinic in 2012 and will be a presenter at the 2014 clinic as well.
