Performance Enhancement Training for the Post-Rehabilitated ACL Reconstructed Knee Athlete

The trauma of ACL tears of the knee has been reported at all levels of athletic competition. These unfortunate knee injuries likely result in the surgical intervention as well as the post-operative rehabilitation of the ACL reconstructed knee. Throughout the knee rehabilitation process as well as the post-rehabilitation training of these ACL athletes, specific training principles, methods, and exercises may be utilized to enhance the athlete's rehabilitation as well as assist the athlete to return to their previously level of athletic performance. This presentation will provide the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Professional with a review of the physical deficits that are commonly present upon completion of the ACL rehabilitation process as well as the methods utilized for the restoration of the optimal physical qualities necessary to eliminate these deficits resulting in the athlete's optimal return to play.
