BIO:

Lee Taft was born in and raised in Whitehall, New York. His parents, Kathleen and Clinton Taft, were both natives of Whitehall and raised all of their 6 children in Whitehall. Lee?s father was his inspiration for being so involved in athletics and fitness. Lee's dad was a physical education teacher, coach of football, basketball. Baseball, and track for over 20 years. He was also the schools athletic director and eventually school principal. Lee's brothers and sisters were all very athletic as well. Lee's 2 brothers, retired now, were coaches, physical education teachers, and administrators.

Lee was a 4 sport athlete in Whitehall having played football, basketball, track, and tennis. In college Lee played 4 years of basketball and 2 years of tennis. It was during his college years that Lee became motivated to learn all he could about strength and conditioning and mainly speed training. Lee noticed that there was not much information on training for court and field sport speed. So he has spent the past 2 decades observing, studying, questioning, and creating systems to achieve optimal court and field sport movement.

Through the years Lee discovered that what has been commonly taught didn?t quite match what the human body naturally did. So he researched and did many clinical studies with his athletes to find common innate patterns of movement that allowed athletes to be more explosive and efficient during play. It was through this type of relentless effort to learn more about real reactive speed that he has been able to change and guide athletes, coaches, and trainers to look deeper into how multi-directional speed is taught.

Having been a physical education and high school coach of many sports Lee learned how to become a better teacher of skills. To help others understand his methods Lee has created many educational resources that break down the pure form of movement speed. He also travels putting on clinics and camps so he can put his methods to work in a live setting.

Lee currently lives in New Castle, Indiana with his wife Jennifer and 3 beautiful children Jae, Bailee, and Brennen. Lee enjoys coaching his 2 daughters in youth sports and playing with his 3 year old son. Lee and Jennifer own and operate Sports Speed Etc Inc., which in an online athletic development product company. They also own the Lee Taft Speed Academy Inc. in which Lee trains athletes, puts on clinics and camps, and lectures. Lee's passion is to see the youth population become more fit, have positive sporting and fitness experiences, and to grow up with a love of fitness and sport.
