Mark Paulsen
Mark Paulsen is completing his 15th year as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of New Mexico. Mark was extremely fortunate to begin his career under a well-respected figure in strength and conditioning—Mike Clark—at the University of Kansas. He then furthered his career with another well-known name in strength and conditioning—Keith Kephart—at the University of South Carolina. In 1985, Mark began his head coaching career at Long Beach State University where he served for two years before moving on to UNM.
Originally from Verndale, Minnesota, Mark served as the track captain for the University of Kansas Big Eight championship team as a discus thrower, while also completing his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Mark also walked on to the Jayhawk football team his senior season and earned himself a scholarship. When his college career was complete, he signed with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League.
Mark and his wife also started the collegiate chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of New Mexico in 1987. Mark and his wife, Christine, have four children: Jessie (12), Stina (12), Gunner (8), and Dane (5).
