Scott Reeves

Scott R. Reeves is a native Texan.  He graduated from South Grand Prairie High School, where he was a tight end and a member of the 80's All-Decade Team.  It was in high school that Scott became involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, of which he continues to be a member today.  After high school, he attended Rice University where he was a four year letterman for the Owls football program.  From there, Scott went to Texas Christian University as a graduate assistant, helping with the football program.  While there, he had the opportunity to play semi-pro football one summer in Europe.  He played in Spain and Great Britain.

While receiving his masters from TCU, he began his strength coaching career under the tutelage of Coach Kevin Yoxall.  Scott’s first full-time job as an assistant strength and conditioning coach was with Mark Leitgeb at Southern Methodist University.  It was at SMU that Scott became involved with Advocare, for which he currently remains an independent distributor.

Scott became a protégée of Coach Rod Cole while at Kansas State University as an assistant coordinator.  There, Scott helped the football program achieve a 10-2 record, an Associated Press Ranking of 7, and a 1995 Holiday Bowl victory.  After only nine months at Kansas State, however, he had an opportunity to return home to his alma mater, Rice University, as the Director of Strength and Conditioning-- a position which he held for 10 years.  While at Rice, Coach Reeves was voted the 1999 National Strength and Conditioning Association “Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year” for the Western Athletic Conference.  He also helped the football program achieve three winning seasons.  After his tenure at Rice, Scott developed a sport-specific speed development program for all ages and levels of athletic performance called “The Science of Training.”  Scott’s most recent coaching stint was at Texas A&M, where he once again worked for Coach Cole.  While there, Scott helped coach the football program to a 2007 Alamo Bowl appearance.

Scott holds several certifications.  He is USAW Club Coach certified, Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified by the CSCCa, and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA.  He resides in College Station with his wife, Tomara, and his sons, Landon and Daxton, who are his life’s inspiration.

Scott describes his mission in coaching as follows: “to create an atmosphere of power, love, and self-discipline through focused program design and encouraging implementation to ensure that goals are achieved in a timely fashion.”
