Sonny Falcone

Sonny Falcone, a 1976 graduate of Duke University and a three-season letterman as a defensive tackle, has served as Duke’s Strength and Conditioning coach since 1980.  He is currently the Director of Duke’s Sports Performance Department.

Until the year 2000, Coach Falcone was the lone strength coach at Duke, working with two National Champion Basketball teams and one ACC Champion football team.  Since 2000, his staff has grown to include seven coaches and two interns, operating three weight training facilities. 

In the football arena, Coach Falcone has tutored 12 All-American, 5 ACC Players of the Year, and 32 First Team All-ACC selections.  Falcone has also worked with numerous All-American and Championship players from a variety of sports other than football during his tenure at Duke. 

Coach Falcone has contributed a chapter in the book Assistance Training and the Total Approach, and has written several other noteworthy articles on training. 

Coach Falcone resides in Durham, NC and has one daughter, Christina, who is a member of Duke’s Volleyball Team.
