The second level of certification offered by the CSCCa is the Master Strength & Conditioning Coach (MSCC), which is undoubtedly the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength & conditioning coach. It represents professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise, as well as longevity in the field.

Once an individual has been a full-time, collegiate and/or professional strength & conditioning coach for a minimum of 12 years (144 months), he/she is eligible to become a Master Strength & Conditioning Coach (MSCC).

Individuals must first meet the following criteria:

✅ Active CSCCa member
Be an active member of the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa). Be current on your annual membership dues.

✅ Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)

Be Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa).

✅ 12-Year Valid Employment History

It is the candidate's responsibility to send formal employment verification to validate work experience to our certification coordinator. Formal employer verification letters should be submitted to cert@cscca.org to allow verification of work history.
You can download the Employment Verification Letter Template and send it to your employer's HR office to complete accordingly and send back to you. You should then send your completed employment verification letter(s) to cert@cscca.org to complete your MSCC application. Click here for an example of what a completed employment verification letter should look like. Please note, your employment verification letter(s) must be written on official letterhead of the institution that it is coming from and must be submitted as a PDF document.
The candidates may also go through third-party websites such as "The Work Number", ADP, etc. then send the verification information to cert@cssa.org. Twelve years of valid employment history as a full-time strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate and/or professional-level* must be logged with your account credentials. The employer contact authorization form must be submitted to the national office to allow validation of work history.

*Note: Years in which an individual may have served in a dual role capacity as a part-time strength and conditioning coach while simultaneously serving in another capacity (e.g. sports coach, athletic trainer, physical therapist, personal trainer, teacher/researcher, etc.), will not be counted towards the 12 year requirement, nor will years in which an individual served as an intern, resident, graduate assistant, practicum student, or private trainer etc.

In order to receive the MSCC title of distinction, an individual must be a currently practicing, full-time strength and conditioning coach of a collegiate or professional athletic team. In order to meet this requirement, the individual must successfully apply for MSCC status within 1 year of active employment as a full-time strength and conditioning coach of a collegiate or professional athletic team. This is to accommodate those individuals who lose their full-time employment status on the collegiate or professional level but who have fulfilled all MSCC requirements. Any questions or concerns regarding eligibility for the MSCC title should be directed to the CSCCa National Office.

✅ Submit a completed MSCC Application

✅ Pay the MSCC Application Fee

If an MSCC applicant meets all qualifications to become MSCC certified, they will be notified in writing via e-mail by the CSCCa. The MSCC Application Fee will be applied to your account if your application qualifies. The deadline to pay the MSCC Application Fee is Friday, November 28, 2025

Payment of a one-time MSCC application fee of $175.00.

Conference, dinner, and ceremony attendance

Finally, all MSCC candidates must be in attendance at the National Conference and MSCC Dinner and Ceremony to receive this award.

TO APPLY:

Applications will open August 2, 2025, then closes November 28th, 2025. All applicants must have 144 months of verified employment as a strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate or professional level by December 31, 2025, prior to the year of their induction. Applications received after the deadline or candidates who do not meet the 144 months requirements prior to the deadline will be considered for MSCC induction the following year.

Application

Those individuals achieving the title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach (MSCC) will be notified and subsequently recognized at the association's National Conference. They will also be listed on the association's website after induction.

One of the association's goals is to encourage athletic administrators to treat the attainment of the title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach (MSCC) as the equivalent of an advancement in rank, with comparable increases in status and salary.
