Presentation Summary:
This Coaches Panel will be moderated by MSCC and CSCCa Board Member Greg Werner from James Madison University. The participating coaches oversee the strength and conditioning programs for a wide range of sports and include the following:

Biography:
Greg Werner became the Director of Strength & Conditioning at James Madison University in 1995 after working as an assistant in the program the previous three years. In addition to coaching at JMU, Werner has been the faculty instructor for the department of Kinesiology's Concepts of Strength & Conditioning course for the past eight years. In the past twelve years at JMU, Werner has helped grow the strength program from one assistant coach with two weight rooms to the current program, which has a Head Football Strength Coach, five assistant coaches, and several interns, with six weight rooms and one cardio room, totaling over 18,000 square feet.
Before JMU, Werner was an assistant and taught classes for one year at the University of The Pacific. Werner received his MS in Exercise Science from JMU, and his BS in Human Performance from Austin Peay State University. Outside of the collegiate ranks, Coach Werner has worked with several NFL, Major League Baseball, Pro Basketball, and Olympic athletes.
In 1999, Werner was selected the NSCA, Colonial Athletic Association Professional of the Year. Coach Werner has served as the Strength & Conditioning specialist for the US Olympic Field Hockey team and as the NSCA Virginia State Director. He has also been an active speaker at the NSCA Sport Specific Training Conference, the CSCS Symposium, as well as several other coach's clinics and camps. In 2005, Coach Werner received the NSCA's highest distinction of Coach Practitioner.
In addition to his coaching and teaching, Werner has published over 22 strength and conditioning articles in various coaching journals and magazines and is the webmaster for the JMU Strength & Conditioning website. Werner is Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified through the CSCCa, is an NSCA CSCS, an ACSM Certified Health/Fitness Instructor, as well as an ISMA Certified Sports Nutrition Consultant. On top of his dedicated leadership at James Madison University, Coach Werner owns and operates AthElite Strength & Conditioning Academy where he and his staff coach athletes ranging from 7th graders to Pro athletes. Werner is proud of the fact that twelve of his previous assistants have gone on to become Head coaches or top assistants at other institutions.
