John Shackleton

Villanova Men's Basketball S&C Program: 2015-16 NCAA Champions

John Shackleton was named the strength coach for the men's and women's basketball teams in August 2012. In this capacity he oversees the strength training for both programs.

Shackleton first came to Villanova in 2010 when he served as an assistant strength coach for the Wildcats football program. In that role he assisted the head strength coach in all aspects of the physical preparation as the 2009 NCAA FCS champion Wildcats prepared for a 2010 season that would see them advance to the FCS semifinals.

Following his stint on the Main Line, Shackleton served one year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Pittsburgh. He worked primarily with the track and field and swimming programs.

In 2011, Shackleton was named assistant strength and conditioning coach at Princeton University where he worked with the men's soccer, women's volleyball, men's heavy weight crew and women's water polo units as well as the Tiger men's basketball and football programs.

Shackleton earned a BS Magna Cum Laude Kineiology degree from Temple University in 2008 and an MS Exercise Science diploma in 2010 from George Washington University.

He makes his home in Newtown, Pa.
