Jonathan Jost

Head, Florida State University

Jon Jost, the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Florida State University started his road to FSU in 1987 at the University of Nebraska where he spent 7 years. He served as both a student assistant and a full-time assistant working for a well-recognized pioneer of the Strength and Conditioning profession, Boyd Epley; whom he considers a great mentor. At Nebraska, Jost earned his bachelors degree in exercise science with an emphasis in strength and conditioning in 1990, and his masters in Education Administration with an emphasis in post-secondary athletic administration in 1994.

In 1994, Coach Jost was hired as the first Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Holy Cross, where from the ground up, he developed and successfully implemented a comprehensive program, servicing all 23 athletic department teams.

In 1996, Jost accepted the opportunity to become the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for Southern Methodist University. At SMU, he was responsible for the development and the hands on administering of individualized programs for over 350 athletes and 18 teams. While at SMU he planned and designed a brand new 10,000 Square Ft. Strength and Conditioning Center.

Presently, Jost is in his third year at Florida State. Since his arrival, he has taken over the Seminoles' Football strength and conditioning program, supervising 10 staff members, 18 varsity athletic sports and 4 separate training facilities across FSU campus. In addition, Coach Jost has been responsible for the design of three new weight room facilities, for the Seminoles' Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams. This August, the Noles will be moving into their showcase 14,000 square foot facility located within Doak Campbell Stadium.

During the course of his career he has served as an assistant, started a program from the ground up, designed and outfitted many new facilities, and day in and day out, implemented one of the best and most comprehensive strength, speed, power, agility, flexibility, and nutrition programs in the nation. At four different institutions, Jost has been part of 6 conference championship teams, 2 National Football Championship games and helped over 100 young athletes achieve the dream of becoming a Professional Athlete or an Olympian.

Most importantly, Jost has influenced thousands of young student-athletes as an outstanding role model who genuinely cares and provides athletes with a tremendous amount of positive guidance. Jon believes it is his responsibility to help young student-athletes develop physically as well as to mature and become outstanding individuals.
