D. Madison (Matt) Riley

Assistant Athletic Director, Middle Tennessee State University

Coach Matt Riley is Assistant Athletic Director and oversees the strength and conditioning program for more than 300 student-athletes at Middle Tennessee State University.

After heading up two different strength and conditioning programs following his graduation from Middle Tennessee, Matt returned to his alma mater in 1993. A former offensive lineman under current Athletic Director Boots Donnelly, Matt returned as a strength coach to oversee the university's weight and conditioning program.

Matt is certified by the International Sports Science Association and the CSCCa and is a member of each association, as well as the NSCA. As a player at Middle Tennessee in the mid-1980s, Matt started on the offensive line of two of the most successful teams in the program's history. The Blue Raiders advanced into the Division I-AA national semi-finals in 1984, and were the undefeated, No. 1-ranked team nationally in 1985.

Matt was an assistant strength coach to "Doc" Kreis at Middle Tennessee in 1988, before being hired as the head strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee Tech in 1989. He served in that capacity for two years before being named the strength and conditioning coach at Southern Mississippi in 1991, where he worked for two years before returning to his alma mater - Middle Tennessee State University.

Matt and his wife, Rajayna, have two children, a 6-year-old daughter, Madison Cate, and a 2-year-old son, Jackson Rhoad.
