Jared Nessland

Head

Jared Nessland received his Bachelor's degree from Montana State University in 1999, where he was a thrower on the Track and Field team, a member of the 1999 Collegiate National Champion Club Weightlifting team, and a Strength and Conditioning Intern.

Following graduation, Nessland began working as a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at the University of North Dakota, under MSCC Paul Chapman. He was later promoted to Assistant Strength Coach in 2002.

Jared returned to serve as Director of Strength and Conditioning at UND after a brief stint at the University of Nebraska. In the years following, he served as Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Montana (2006-2008) and Southern Illinois University (2008-2011).

Nessland is currently the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Sacramento State, where he has worked for the past 3 years. He became Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified in 2002. He also became a Starting Strength Coach in January 2012, becoming the only Collegiate Strength Coach to do so. Following this, he has had the privilege of serving on Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength Seminar Staff as a Platform Coach.
