Lee Morrow

Head S&C Coach, East Tennessee State University

Coach Lee Morrow began his coaching career in 1977 when his alma-mater, Milligan College in Milligan, TN hired him as the head track & cross-country coach.

Milligan added to these duties in 1978 when he was hired as the assistant men's basketball coach and the school's intramural director. In January of 1982, he was hired by East Tennessee State University as its first strength and conditioning coach where he still serves in this capacity. Morrow earned a Masters Degree in Education from ETSU in 1982. During his tenure as strength coach, Morrow has filled several different roles for the ETSU athletic department. He was appointed athletic academic advisor in 1985 and continued in this dual role until 1991. In the spring of 1989, he was asked to be the interim head baseball coach for approximately 80% of the season. The administration assigned him game management duties for home basketball and football games from 1991 till the present. The 2004-2005 school year he assumed the role of event manager for all home men's basketball games. During his time at ETSU, Morrow became a member of the NSCA in 1986, serving as the state director of Tennessee from 1991 to 1994. In the spring of 1991, he was asked to speak on strength and conditioning for basketball at the NSCA national convention in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his certification from the CSCCa in May of 2004.

Currently, Morrow is privileged to work with all of the athletes at East Tennessee State University in the university's athletic weight facility. He serves as a school board member in the Carter County Tennessee School System. In addition, Coach Morrow serves on the board of advisors for the ROTC department. He is also the director of Luxury suite security at Bristol Motor Speedway, in Bristol. He is chairman of the board of the Johnson City Athletic Club in Johnson City and of First Christian Church in Elizabethton. Coach Morrow was very pleased to be asked by Coach Johnny Long to speak at the University of Tennessee Strength Clinic this spring.

Morrow has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 27 years and has 3 children: Nathan, Lindsey, and Lydia. His proudest moment occurred in April of 2004 when he witnessed his son, Nathan, step off a plane alive and well in Johnson City, TN, after serving with the 2 nd Marine division as a machine gunner in Iraq where he received the brunt of a blast from an enemy IED (improvised explosive device). He suffered life-threatening injuries to his face, head, and neck, but has fully recovered, and is a fully functioning Marine reservist and a student at ETSU.
