Presentation Summary:
The management of student-athlete health, safety, and performance has evolved dramatically in recent years. From the 60's and 70's when athletic trainers were the only professionals on the scene, to today's diverse and specialized group of performance specialists, there is a new and pressing need for strong leadership and effective organization of these support areas within collegiate athletics. The NCAA has acknowledged the need for an integrated, multi-disciplinary framework, and the CSCCa has created a position paper advocating for an integrated model based on a spirit and mindset of collaboration. This session will investigate the current climate for team-based high-performance models in collegiate athletics- identifying action steps and discussing potential road blocks.
