The University of Georgia Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking highly motivated candidates for the Fall 2022 semester’s internship program.

Candidates: The program is designed for young strength coaches to gain experience and knowledge in a collegiate setting. Individuals will have an opportunity to work with 17 different Olympic sports and learn under seven full time strength coaches, including two Master Strength Coaches approved through the CSCCa. Candidates that are interested in the internship position are required to complete the 640 hours required by the CSCCa to take the certification exam. (Not all candidates have to complete CSCCa requirements, however, the option will be available).

Daily responsibilities: will include but are not limited to: assisting with facility maintenance, equipment and training set up, supervision of athletes training sessions, lifting demonstrations, practical skills training, leadership opportunities, professional development assignments, reviewing research articles, curriculum based education, and working on projects assigned by internship supervisor. Interns will also get exposure to sport science technologies and data collection/analysis.

Qualifications: currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a STRONG DESIRE to become a COLLEGIATE STRENGTH and CONDITIONING COACH. Preferred candidates will currently have or pursuing certifications through CSCCa, NSCA, or USAW organizations. Start and finish date will be TBD however approximately (August 15th-December 15th).

Compensation: this is a NON-PAID VOLUNTEER POSITION. Interns can accumulate up to 40 hours a week towards (640hr total) CSCCa internship requirements and/or college course credits. All candidates will have an opportunity to gain experience and possible recommendations for future employment.
