Job Description:

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position in its Strength & Conditioning program for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years. SMSU is part of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in NCAA Division II. With 17 total teams competing in DII, this position offers ample opportunities for coaching and programming experience. Under the supervision of the Director of Strength & Conditioning, the successful candidate will develop and implement general and sport-specific training programs for several sports. The position will work with 2-3 teams while assisting with Football.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Weight room supervision

- Development and implementation of speed and/or conditioning training

- Facility and equipment maintenance

- Data collection and record keeping

- Other duties as assigned, such as social media and promoting teams.

Compensation:

The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year commitment beginning with the 2024-2025 academic year which includes a tuition waiver for a graduate level degree program of the students choosing and an $8,000.00 stipend. Graduate assistants must maintain at least 6 hours of graduate-level credit per semester to be eligible.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field and acceptance into Southwest Minnesota State University’s graduate program.

- SCCC or CSCS certification. First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

- Internship experience with a collegiate or professional sports program.
