Job Summary:
The CHRISTUS Human Performance Center (HPC), along with the Tyler Junior College (TJC) Athletics Department, is seeking high performing individuals to take part in our internship program. This internship will be onsite at the Tyler Junior College (TJC) Strength and Conditioning Facility, as well as the CHRISTUS Human Performance Center in Tyler, TX and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week. As a Strength and Conditioning Intern, you will gain knowledge and experience working in two (2) highly skilled strength & conditioning environments, collegiate and private sector. Our goal is to provide our interns with valuable education and experiences that will help propel your career forward after graduation.

As a Strength & Conditioning Intern You Will:
-Assist in weight room supervision, weight room set up and break down, facility and equipment maintenance, data collection and record keeping, and other duties as assigned
-Learn how to develop and refine your coaching skills
-Develop an in-depth understanding of the CHRISTUS Human Performance Center Methodology through
-Weekly educational sessions by lectures, presentations & practicums.
-Practical training on proper technique on all weight room movement patterns, speed, change of direction, and multidirectional drills, and much more
-Have the opportunity to receive additional exposure to sports specific training methods, athletic training, and physical therapy

Internship Requirements:
-Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program specializing in sport science, kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise science, etc.
-Must be in a program accepting course credit in exchange for an internship experience, as this is an unpaid internship
-Have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (Students who are not currently certified may seek certification during the application process)
-Must be able to pass any volunteer requirements set forth by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital System and Volunteer Services, and attended orientation.
-Certified interns (required NSCA-CSCS) will have the opportunity to lead assigned teams at TJC and/or sports performance programs at the CHRISTUS Human Performance Center


Who We Are:
The CHRISTUS Human Performance Center (HPC) is a passion filled, purpose and results driven, performance enhancement center, and is a part of the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System located in Tyler, Texas. The HPC trains athletes starting at the age of 8 years old, while also training weekend warriors and the general population. In 2023, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital System became the medical provider for Tyler Junior College (TJC) athletics. TJC is a D1 NJCAA school in Region 14 that currently has nine (9) athletic programs across five (5) sports. The TJC Apaches have won 68 NJCAA National Championships, most recently two (2) in 2022 and three (3) in 2021.
