Drake University Athletics’ mission is to provide student-athletes with an environment that fosters both academic and athletic success, promoting personal growth, leadership development, and a positive campus community. Under the direction of the Sports Performance department, the Assistant Sports Performance Coach will have the opportunity to assist with Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball and develop and implement appropriate strength, speed, nutrition, and conditioning programs for 2-3 assigned teams.
Responsibilities:
-Includes, but not limited to, assisting in all aspects of the Drake University Sports Performance daily operations.
-Design and implement sports performance programs for 2-3 teams assigned
-Effectively teach and execute proper technique of all lifts and drills
-Strong command, communication, and supervision of team training
-Collaborate with Sports Medicine staff on rehabilitation and return to play protocol for student-athletes
-Assist with maintenance and upkeep of the facility
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
-Current SCCC (CSCCa) and/or CSCS (NSCA) certification (or working toward)
-CPR/AED/First Aid certification
-Ability to work effectively in a diverse workplace, with a variety of teams, coaches, and support staff
-Candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel)
-Experience with technology (Kinnexon, Vald Force Decks, VBT, Teambuildr, etc.) and data collection encouraged
