Description:
Newman University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Performance. This position is ideal for someone pursuing a career in strength and conditioning who is enrolled in a graduate program. The GA will assist with designing and implementing training programs that enhance athletic performance, support daily weight room operations, and work with NCAA Division II student-athletes.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Conduct team and individual training sessions
• Assist with the maintenance and supervision of the weight room
• Collaborate with coaching staff on sport-specific programming
• Help with game-day operations as needed
• Maintain compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and institutional policies
• Participate in professional development and university training
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Must be accepted/enrolled full-time in a graduate program (minimum 6 credit hours/semester)
• Previous experience in a collegiate athletic setting
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• SCCC or CSCS certification preferred
• CPR/AED certification preferred
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Compensation:
• $250 monthly stipend
• Tuition waiver for fall, spring, and summer semesters (student pays fees, books, and housing)
• 120-day meal plan (when dining services are open)
• On-campus housing may be available depending on capacity
Additional Notes:
• Must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain eligible
• Other employment requires prior approval
