What is this thing called Mental Health?

Robert (Bob) Harmison, PhD. is the current President of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), a leading organization dedicated to advancing and promoting the field and profession of sport psychology in North America and around the world. Bob has been a continuous AASP member since 1993, was designated as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® by AASP in 2002, achieved AASP Fellow status in 2015, and previously served on the AASP Executive Board as the Professional Standards Division Head and Board Liaison to the Certification Council. Bob also is currently the Kibler Professor of Sport Psychology in the Department of Graduate Psychology at James Madison University, the Director of Sport Psychology for JMU Athletics, and the Director of the Challace J. McMillin Center for Sport Psychology at JMU. In these roles he advises, teaches, and supervises sport psychology graduate students and conducts sport psychology scholarship, provides sport psychology services to JMU athletes and coaches, and directs sport psychology outreach programming to the surrounding athletic community.? Bob has been providing sport psychology services to high school through elite-level athletes and teams for the past 25+ years, including the 2002, 2006, and 2010 U.S. Olympic Snowboard teams. Other highlights include being a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee sport psychology staff from 1997-1999 and providing consultation to athletes and coaches within four university athletic departments and one Major League Baseball organization. Bob received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2000 and an M.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences (Sport Psychology specialization) from the University of Arizona in 1994.? He is a member of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee Sport Psychology and Mental Training Registry and is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
