Terry Jones

Asst. Head S&C Coach, University of Alabama

Terry Wayne Jones, Sr. is currently the Assistant Head Strength Coach at the University of Alabama where he has been a dedicated coach since 1988. Coach Jones also received his degree at the University of Alabama and played there from 1974-1977. He was coached by the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant and he played in three bowl games during this time.

After being drafted in the 11th round by the Green Bay Packers, he played for 8 years as a Defensive Tackle and Nose Guard.

When he returned to the University in 1988, he became an Assistant Strength Coach in the Coliseum Weight Room where he assisted in administering football strength-training programs and overseeing all of the sports utilizing the weight room. From 1992-1996, he served as an Assistant Strength Coach. His duties were to assist with the football program, the men's and women's basketball program, the men's and women's track program, as well as women's golf and gymnastics. From 1997 to 2000, he served as the Head Strength Coach. Throughout his coaching experience, he has led his athletes to 7 bowl games, one national championship and three SEC Conference Championships.

Jones and his wife, the former Willie Mays Jones, have two sons, Terry Jr., and Jason, two daughters, Teresha and Alisha, and a 19-year old granddaughter named Ariel.
