Jason Cole

Assistant, University of Michigan

Jason Cole has been a member of the University of Michigan Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Staff since 1998. His current responsibilities include development of the strength and conditioning programs for baseball, men's and women's tennis, and men's soccer.

While at Michigan, Cole has worked with all sports with the exception of men's gymnastics. Cole's career is highlighted by his involvement with two National Championship teams--2001 women's field hockey and 2005 softball. In addition, Cole has been a part of multiple Big Ten Championship teams and has coached four Big Ten Athletes of the Year.

Cole came to Michigan after spending one year as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). In his role as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, he was responsible for the development of 15 sports while helping the Athletic Department make the transition from a Division II to Division I program. He was the first full-time strength coach in the history of the IUPUI athletic program. In addition to his responsibilities there, Cole served as an assistant coach in the Athletic Development Program at The National Institute for Fitness and Sport.

Cole earned a Master's of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1996 while serving as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning department. His primary duties were to assist with all facets of the football strength and conditioning program. Cole earned his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College in 1991 and was a member of the school's 1988 Division III National Championship Football Team.

Cole is certified by the NSCA, USA Weightlifting and the CSCCa.

Jason would like to thank his wife Lauren, their two children Emily and Alex for their unwavering love and support and his parents Judy and Fred Cole and Brother Ryan for teaching him the value of coaching and education. Jason would also like to offer a special thanks to Mike Gittleson, Jim Plocki, Mike Curtis, Mike Favre, Bo Sandoval and Lew Porchiazzo for giving him the opportunity to excel in the profession.
