Travis Reust

Director of Sports Performance

Travis Reust is in his first year as Director of Strength and Conditioning for Sherman ISD. Prior to he spent 2 years working with our United States Military, more specifically the U.S. Army, and was part of the pilot program that revamped the Army's PT situation. He helped to develop ACFT Army Combat Fitness Test and then implemented it into the Pilot program Battalion. Before working with the Army, he was the Director of Sports Performance at the University of New Orleans. Prior to UNO for seven years as Associate Director of Strength & Conditioning at UTSA. Reust previously spent four years at his alma mater, East Central (Okla.), as director of strength & conditioning. He was the athletics department's first full-time strength & conditioning coach, a position created to enhance Tigers athletics. Reust was responsible for designing and implementing the strength & conditioning programs for all ECU sports.

The Oklahoma City native's leadership spearheaded the Tiger new strength & conditioning facility, the Pat ONeal Center, which was labeled one of the best in NCAA Division II athletics.

He previously served as Nebraska's head basketball strength & conditioning coach, where he helped the Huskers men and women advance to postseason play. Reust also worked with the Nebraska wrestling program, which was ranked in the top five of the country and rated as high as second in the Big 12 Conference.

Prior to his arrival at Nebraska, he was the assistant strength & conditioning coach at TCU, where he worked with football, Men's Basketball, baseball and womens golf. While in Fort Worth, Reust helped lead the Men's Basketball program to its first postseason tournament in 10 years. During his time there, the baseball program won the 2005 Conference USA Championship. Eight of his former athletes currently are playing professional baseball.

Before taking the position at TCU, Reust was assistant strength & conditioning coach at Colorado, where he worked for E.J. Doc Kreis. His primary responsibility was working with the Buffaloes' football program. He also coordinated the strength & conditioning programs for both the Men's Basketball and women's basketball programs, as well as the mens and womens golf teams. While working with the football program, Reust was part of the 2002 Big 12 North Championship. Reust worked with seven All-Americans and 23 All-Big 12 athletes, 11 of which currently are playing in the NFL, during his time in Boulder. He also coached basketball center David Harrison, who was a 2004 NBA First Round Draft Pick by the Indiana Pacers.
Reust spent a year as an intern at Oklahoma State, where his main responsibility was assisting with the football program.

He began his career as a football defensive graduate assistant and the strength & conditioning coach at East Central.

Reust earned his bachelors degree in education in 2000 and a masters degree in education/sports administration two years later. He is certified through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, USA Weightlifting and International Sports Science Association in addition to being a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
He is married to the former April Love and the couple has three daughters, Summer, Kassidy and Jaylee and two sons, Kaden and Hunter
