Ryan Johnson

Director of Sports Performance

Ryan Johnson is currently an employee of Springfield Clinic and serves as the Director of Sports Performance at the University of Illinois Springfield. He began this position in August of 2020. Johnson previously joined the University of Missouri Athletic Performance staff as an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports in July 2018. He primarily worked with the baseball program but also worked with several other Olympic sports.
Johnson served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southeast Missouri State University from 2011 to 2018. He was also an adjunct professor in the Health, Human Performance, and Recreation department. Prior to that he was at Delaware State University from 2006 to 2011, serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning from 2009 to 2011.
During the summer of 2006 Johnson completed an internship with the University of Iowa football program.
From 2004 to 2006 he was a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
During the spring of 2004 Johnson served as a strength and conditioning intern at Central College.
Johnson earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Central College in 2004. He was also a three year letterman for the football team. He earned his Masters of Arts degree in 2006 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Johnson holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), Precision Nutrition (Pn), Functional Movement Systems (FMS Level 1), and Functional Range Systems (FRC and FRA).
