MSCC Class of 2013

David Deets

Beginning his second season with the Razorback Men's Basketball Program, David Deets is no stranger to Mike Anderson's style of basketball. Deets is a six-year veteran of the up-tempo system, having worked with Anderson and his staff at the University of Missouri for five seasons before joining them at Arkansas.

One of the most well respected Men's Basketball Strength and Conditioning Coaches in the country, Deets has been a featured speaker at national conferences and was one of seven individuals involved in the Nike Basketball's SPARQ program, which developed new testing measures for several sports. Deets contributed to the development of the basketball standards.

Since his arrival at Arkansas, Deets has wasted no time in transforming the Razorback Strength and Conditioning area into one that will best serve Arkansas and Anderson's style. He reorganized the facility for more efficient training and renovated the overall look of the space.

His work with players has also produced significant results as the Razorbacks have transformed their bodies. A perfect example of Deets' work can be seen in Hunter Mickelson who added 30 pounds between his high school graduation and first day of official practice at Arkansas.

Prior to joining Anderson and his staff at Arkansas, Deets spent five years at Missouri. He was instrumental there in the renovations of the Sally O. Nichols weight room, and he mentored four National Strength and Conditioning All-Americans. Deets' off-season regimen with the Tigers was key in Missouri's three NCAA tournament runs and Big 12 Tournament Championship in 2009.

After graduating from Northeastern State University with a degree in Health and Human Performance in 2000, Deets went on to a graduate assistantship at Oklahoma State. He spent one year with the Cowboys before landing his first full-time job at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Lousiana. As Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Deets oversaw all aspects of strength training for NSU's 14 intercollegiate sports. His career path then took him to Texas Christian University and back to Oklahoma State before settling in at Missouri prior to the 2006-07 season.

David and his wife, Angela, have two daughters: Emery Rose (5) and Violet Beatrice (2).
