Troy Williams

Football Strength and Conditioning Coach

Troy Williams joined Hampton University as the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning in the Spring of 2024.
He spent a season as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football at Syracuse University where he helped the Orange to the 2023 roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Prior to Syracuse, he spent five years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Albany State University, helping guide the football team to the 2021 SIAC championship and an appearance in the Division II playoffs. He spent over a year at the University of Arizona as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with football, helping them to the 2017 Foster Farms Bowl; and designed and implemented the strength training program for the Jumpers/Multis for Track and Field. Prior to Arizona, he spent one season as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football at the University of Minnesota, helping the Golden Gophers to a 9-4 record and a win in the 2016 National Funding Holiday Bowl. He spent two years as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Missouri S&T, where he helped the Men’s Track and Field team to the second of back-to-back Outdoor Conference Championships.
Prior to Missouri S&T, he spent two years as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning and Strength and Conditioning Internship Supervisor at Eastern Illinois University working primarily with Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Rugby; helping guide football to back to back conference championships in 2012 and 2013. From 2010-2012, he was the Linebackers Coach and Football Strength and Conditioning Coach at Truman State University. He also spent one year as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach and Strength and Conditioning Intern at the University of Central Missouri.

Troy played football collegiately at Albany State (GA) University, where he was a member of a football team that won four consecutive conference championships, winning the 2003 Pioneer Bowl then making three NCAA Division II playoff appearances.

Williams received his Master’s Degree in PE/Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Central Missouri in 2010 and holds two Bachelor’s Degrees from Albany State University: Recreation (2007) and Health and Physical Education (2008).

He is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and an approved mentor through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach with Distinction (RSCC*D) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Level 1 Weightlifting Coach (USAW) through USA Weightlifting, Level 1 Functional Movement Screen Certified (FMSC) and Y Balance Test Certified through Functional Movement Systems. He is also a Certified Reflexive Performance Reset Coach (RPR).
He and his wife, Chari have two children: Troy, III, and Valerie.
