Jonathan Dean currently serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Christopher Newport University and has been in this role since 2001 while also coaching the defensive line until 2012. His responsibilities at CNU include preparing and improving strength and conditioning for Football, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Women’s Soccer, Softball, and Men’s Basketball. His efforts have played an integral role in creating a high performance environment and helped develop the Captains into one of the nation's premier NCAA Division III programs, consistently ranked in the Top 20 in the Learfield Directors' Cup annually.
Before CNU, Dean served as an assistant football/strength and conditioning coach at Bethel HS in Hampton, VA—a 1999 graduate of James Madison University, where he was an All-Conference defensive lineman. Dean has stints at JMU and Richmond, working as a student intern. He received his master's degree in 2012 from A.T. Still University and is pursuing his EDd in Strength and Conditioning.
