Johnny Olguin

Strength Coach , Fresno State University

Johnny O. joined Texas State in the summer of 2022 .
Olguin arrived in San Marcos with nearly 20 years of experience working with collegiate athletes in strength and conditioning as well as helping professional athletes.

Prior to Texas State, Olguin was the performance director for NBA player Tyler Johnson for three years. He worked directly with Johnson in developing and implementing a performance improvement program and tailored it all within athletic training, nutrition and recovery protocols.

From 2013 to 2019, Olguin was the Assistant AD - Strength & Conditioning at Fresno State. He oversaw the day-to-day athletic performance development for more than 500 student-athletes. He also worked with the baseball and men's basketball programs, including the 2016 season in which both teams won the 2016 Mountain West championships in their sports.

Before Fresno State, Olguin was the head strength and conditioning coach at Texas Southern (2008-13) and director of strength and conditioning at New Mexico Highlands University (2006-08). He started his career as a graduate intern at Texas (2005-06).

He graduated from New Mexico Highlands in 2000 with a bachelor's in sports administration and in 2023 with a master's in sports administration. He also holds an education credential from New Mexico Highlands in behavioral disorders.
