Yuki Miyazawa enters third year as the Associate Director of Sports performance since joining the Lions staff in July of 2022. Miyazawa works directly with Men/Women’s basketball, Men’s/Women’s golf, and Men’s swimming. He also supervises the sports science operation for both basketball teams. He was part of the women’s first Ivy League Championship along with the WNIT runner-up season and the first bid to the NCAA tournament. Men’s basketball has also increased win total each year since his arrival.
Miyazawa spent 10 years at St. Francis College Brooklyn, serving as the Director of Strength, Conditioning and Wellness. As a member of the senior staff, he was responsible for the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program, operation of the fueling station, and daily wellness monitoring for each of Terriers’ 21 Division I Intercollegiate teams.
His decade in Brooklyn saw numerous athletic success: A regular season NEC championship and the first NIT appearance in 52 years by Men’s Basketball, First Conference Championship with the NCAA Tournament appearance by Women’s Basketball, 5 NEC soccer championships including a Top 25 ranking and MLS draft pick by Men’s Soccer, Back-to-Back Final Four appearances and Eastern Championships by the Men’s Water Polo Program, and numerous school records broken by multiple teams.
Prior to his arrival in Brooklyn, Miyazawa spent three years at his alma mater as the inaugural Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Queens College, where he built the varsity weight room for the Knights’ 19 Division II athletic programs. He was responsible for redesigning the weight room and implementing a year-round strength and conditioning program which helped produce numerous All-American athletes annually.
As a student-athlete, Miyazawa was a two-time scholar-athlete recipient while a member of the Knights' Men’s Basketball team. He has also completed an internship for Strength and Conditioning Program for Basketball at St. John’s University.
Miyazawa is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and holds the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He has USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach and Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms) with Kinstretch certification. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from CUNY-Queens College (2010) and master’s degree from Long Island University in exercise science (2016).
