David Richardson

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Entering his 26th year as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, Dave Richardson is also in his 12th season working with Thad Matta and his Ohio State Basketball program. Prior to his stint at The Ohio State University, Richardson worked at the University of Miami (FL), training the Hurricane Men's Basketball, women's volleyball and tennis programs. The Louisiana native came to Miami from his alma mater, Northeast Louisiana University where he was the head strength and conditioning coach for 6 years. Richardson got his start in 1990 as the head strength and conditioning coach at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana where he worked for 5 seasons.

Prior to entering college, Richardson joined the military out of high school and was on active duty from 1980 until 1985. During his military stint, Sergeant Richardson began his powerlifting career and won numerous titles including the 1984 Alaska State, and 1986 and 1987 Louisiana State championships. Richardson also won the 1985 and 1986 ArkLaMiss championships and was listed among the Powerlifting USA top 100.

Richardson and his wife Amanda have a son, DJ who graduates from high school this year and a daughter Megan who is a school teacher in Louisiana.

Away from working at Ohio State, Dave and Amanda, are involved in Christian Ministries including local and global endeavors. He also is a frequent speaker at Athletes In Action events.
