Terry Mitchell was the assistant director for strength and conditioning at Virginia Tech for 17 years. A graduate of Lee University, Mitchell earned his master's in community health promotions from Virginia Tech. He is MSCC certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, CSCS certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and holds certifications from USA Weightlifting and Cooper Institute. Mitchell was a national level powerlifter and frequently competes in competitions along the East coast. During his lifting career, he held Master's National and World record in the bench press event in the American Powerlifing Federation.
Mitchell is married to the former Terri Thompson, who serves as associate vice president for the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc.
