Danny Wheel has served as a strength and conditioning coach for the last 18 years and has spent the last 8 years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at The University of North Carolina Greensboro. A native of Williamsburg, VA, Wheel attended Virginia Tech as a football walk-on. Wheel earned his bachelor's degree in physical education in 1998 and his master's degree in education in 2001, both from Virginia Tech.

After his playing career concluded he became a graduate assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Virginia Tech from 1999-2001 working directly under MSCC Coach Mike Gentry. Upon completion of his master's degree, Wheel began his career at East Carolina University under Coach Jim Whitten. During his 10 years at ECU Wheel worked with all 18 sports, helping him develop and excel as a strength coach.

Coach Wheel uses his position as a coach to influence the lives of all Student-Athletes. His hope is to help all Student-Athletes develop into positive leaders in their communities upon graduation. Danny would like to thank coaches MSCC Mike Gentry, Coach Jim Whitten, MSCC Sonny Sano, and MSCC Mike Golden for being lifelong mentors and friends.
