Keith Vinci

Assistant AD for Sports Performance

It is with heavy hearts that we pay tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Keith Vinci, Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance at UMass Lowell, who sadly ended his fight with cancer on Nov. 17, 2022.

Vinci was in his ninth year as Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance at UMass Lowell, working primarily with the men's basketball and women's lacrosse programs, when he passed away on November 17, 2022, after battling Burkitt's Lymphoma for a second time.

Vinci came to UMass Lowell with five years of Division I experience and nine seasons overall in the industry. He joined the River Hawks after spending three years at Canisius College as Head Coach of Athletics Performance.

In addition, Vinci was a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). He was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the CSCCA prior to his passing.

Prior to Canisius, he served as Sports Performance and Fitness Manager at Moore Physical Therapy from 2010-2011. Vinci also spent one season (2008-2009) at the University of Pittsburgh as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, as well as one season (2007-08) as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Canisius.

Vinci also served in the United State Marine Corps for eight years (1995-2003) serving as a squad leader, marksmen and combat swimming instructor.

As an undergraduate, Vinci earned his bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Exercise Physiology from Southern Connecticut State University in 2006. He also has two master's degrees; from California University of Pennsylvania in 2010 in Human Performance and from Canisius College in 2014 in Sports Administration.
