Michael Shumaker

Assistant AD over Sports Performance

Michael Shumaker was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance on June 1, 2014, following a two-year stint as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Auburn University. He is beginning his sixth year with the school in the 2019-20 academic year.

Shumaker, a Forest, Miss., will be in charge of all strength and conditioning for the 17 intercollegiate sports at Mississippi College, designing and implementing programs for the teams while also overseeing the Charles & Alene Williams Strength Center.

Prior to his time at Auburn, Shumaker was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Radford University in Virginia. While at Radford, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the entire athletic department strength and conditioning program, working directly with the baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's tennis and volleyball teams.

Shumaker, who went to Radford from Biloxi High School, was a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Mississippi State, from 2007-09. During his time in Starkville, he was in charge of the men's and women's track and field squads while assisting with the football and baseball teams.

A 2005 graduate of Mississippi State with a degree in physical education, Shumaker was a member of the MSU baseball and football teams. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Instructional Technology in 2009 from Mississippi State.

Shumaker is married to the former Edie Robinson. The couple have a daughter, Rhylynn, and a son, Evers.
