Assistant AD for Sports Performance - Director of

Born and raised in West Greenwich Rhode Island December 22nd, 1986. I have one older brother, Steve who still resides in Rhode Island. I grew up playing multiple sports as a child then eventually stuck with football and wrestling throughout my middle school and high school career. A 4-year starter and a captain in both sports, I graduated high school in 2004. I then attended Springfield College in Massachusetts where I continued my football career as a defensive back for the Pride. Enrolled in the Applied Exercise Science Program at Springfield College, that was where my love for strength and conditioning began. During my junior year at Springfield, I completed a summer internship back home at the University of Rhode Island in 2007. I then went on to complete a second internship at the University of South Florida my senior year Spring of 2008, before landing back at the University of Rhode Island for my fist full-time assistant strength and conditioning position. 2 years into the position I had the passion to further my education and go back to school for a master’s degree. I then accepted a graduate assistantship at Salisbury University in Maryland to study Applied Health Physiology with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning. Following the completion of my master’s degree I had 2-year stints with Hofstra University as an assistant and University of Pittsburgh as an assistant head strength and conditioning coach. Throughout my career thus far my passion began to lie in developing internship programs and learning how a department is run with aspirations of being a director. I have had an extensive background with Basketball and Baseball in my career which led me to my next job as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville Florida. I am currently in my 7th year at UNF where I have been elevated to Director then to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance. I played in integral role in the development of a Performance Team within the athletics department and had great support from the University as I continue my tenure here. I have also spoke at 3 strength and conditioning clinics throughout the state of Florida. I am currently engaged to get married this June to Jackie Johnson and we are due to have our first child in September.
