Director of Strength and Conditioning, Football
David Feeley has been named to Duke's athletic staff as the associate director of sports performance and director of football sports performance.
Feeley comes to Duke with over 15 years of college football experience, including working the past three seasons at the University of Miami as the director of strength and conditioning for football.
During his time in Coral Gables, Feeley helped the Hurricanes to a 21-15 record, including three bowl invitations and a final ranking in the 2020 Associated Press top-25. He designed player development programs which translated into the all-time best roster availability for an entire season in program history. No plays were missed due to soft tissue injuries over the course of his three seasons and Miami outgained and outscored opponents two-to-one in yardage and points during the fourth quarter of the 2021 season.
In addition, Feeley, who supervised a staff of four, and his strength group were named the runner-up for the NFL Play Smart Play Safe grant, in partnership with the Miami Dolphins. That initiative highlighted Miami's strength and conditioning program's success in the primary prevention of hamstring injuries.
Prior to his stint at Miami, Feeley spent two seasons at Temple University as an assistant athletic director of football sports performance. While there, he helped the Owls compile a 15-11 record, including two bowl appearances. He also oversaw and led a strength department of two assistants and one graduate assistant.
Before Temple, Feeley served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of South Carolina for one season, where the Gamecocks earned a bid to the Birmingham Bowl.
From 2011-15, Feeley worked as the director of football strength and conditioning at Ball State University. He also spent time working with the women's basketball team during his time in Muncie. In that stretch, he helped the Cardinals earn two bowl appearances and three consecutive NIT showings.
Feeley also made stops at Florida International University as an assistant strength and conditioning coach (2008-10) and University of Nevada Las Vegas as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach (2006-07).
Feeley earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Plymouth State University in 2004 and was a four-year letterwinner for the football program, serving as a team captain during his senior season. He helped the Panthers to the Freedom Football Conference title in 2001 and was honored with the team's best lineman award in 2002. He later earned a master's degree in educational administration from UNLV in 2008.
Feeley holds certifications as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, strength and conditioning specialist, and USA weightlifting club coach as well as being licensed in functional movement screening and adult CPR-First Aid.
A native of Brick, N.J., Feeley is married to the former Ann Marie DeGiglio of Toms River, N.J., and the couple have two children, Laura and John.
